The size of ancient Athens was much smaller than the size of 1789 America which was appx 4 million people. However, in modern sense, both populations are very large. Athens would be compared to modern day Boston, or 4 mil (the size of America) whereas the us would be the equivalent of 50 million people. In conclusion, about 10 of Ancient Athens would make up the population of the United States in 1789
