I don't know if you have any options, but the correct pronunciation of the word ballast in both British and North American English is /ˈbæləst/
The word ballast refers to some very heavy material which is placed on a ship in order to make it stable. It has two syllables (and the first one is stressed) in both BrE and NAmE.
