Thalamus  
 The thalamus is located in the cerebrum between the cerebral cortex and the midbrain and has broad nerve associations with both. The principle capacity of the thalamus is to act as the transfer engine of tangible signs to the cerebral cortex. It additionally directs rest, readiness and alertness.
