Well first we need to make a function, this is increasing proportionally so we know the equation will be
[tex]y = mx + b[/tex]
Now its increasing by 6 for each step in x so
[tex]y = 6x + b[/tex]
If we plug in when x = 1 and y = 2(the first given term)
[tex]2 = 6(1) + b \\ b = - 4[/tex]
Now the arithmetic sequence can sbe represented by
[tex]y = 6x - 4[/tex]
If you plug in 18, well get the 18th term
[tex]y = 6(18) - 4 \\ y = 108 - 4 \\ y = 104[/tex]
The 18th term is 104
