x-2y=14      | *-1
x+3y=9

-x+2y=-14  } +
x+3y=9
---------------
   5y=-14+9
   5y=-5
   y=-5/5
     y=-1

x+ 3*(-1)=9
x-3=9
x=9+3
x=12

Since you want to eliminate in the variable, eliminate x because it can be easily crossed out. To get rid of x simply subtract the two equations. So x-x is canceled and 2y- -3y=5y and 14-9=5 so 5y=5 is 1. Now plug 1 into y and you get x=6.
The answer is (6,1) Hope this helps!!!!!!
