If a triangle has a height of 14 inches and a base of 9 inches, what is its area?

The formula for area of a triangle is 

Area= 1/2*base*height

If you substitute values in for the base and height, you get the equation

Area = 1/2*14*9

When you multiply 1/2 by 14, you get 7.  Substitute for this in your equation.

Area=7*9

Simplify by multiplying 7*9=63.

The area of the triangle is 63 inches.
