First change 5y = 10 + 2x into slope intercept form.
Slope-intercept form is y = mx + b.

5y = 2x + 10

y = 2/5x + 2

The slope in the equation is 2/5.
To find the perpendicular slope, find the negative reciprocal of 2/5.

2/5 → - 5/2

- 5/2 is the slope of the line perpendicular to 5y = 10 + 2x
