To make sure that nothing is in the way on the floor or anywhere else that might cause someone to fall.

I believe the answer is: Use non-slip material on floors

non-slip material on floors is made with components that would increase the friction on the floor. By using the non-slip material, the mobility on top of the floor would be reduced. But the chance of people for falling on top of the floor would decrease dramatically.
