A translation is simply a "moving" when it comes to a point. In this case, by adding (-2, 7) to the point P, we will find point Q. That is, x-2 gives Q's x-coordinate of 4 and y+7 gives Q's y-coordinate of -1. To start, x-2 = 4 gives an x of -6, and y+7 = -1 gives a y of -8. So, the original point P was located at (-6,-8).
