2x - 2y = -38 ....multiply by -2
-5x - 4y = 23
---------------
-4x + 4y = 76 (result of multiplying by -2)
-5x - 4y = 23
---------------add
-9x = 99
x = -99/9
x = -11

2x - 2y = -38
2(-11) - 2y = -38
-22 - 2y = -38
-2y = -38 + 22
-2y = - 16
y = -16/-2
y = 8

solution is (-11,8)
