Jane Addams - She visited Toynbee Hall in July 1888. She was enthralled by the world's first settlement house and she was inspired to start a similar settlement house in Chicago. Together with her friend, Ellen Gates Starr they founded Hull House in Chicago. This project epitomized Addams as a pioneer of reformist progressive era.
