Jason's age is 3 times Shauna's present age. In 4 years time,the sum of their ages will be 56 years. Find their present ages.

Let s and 3s be Shauna's age and Jason's age, respectively. Then:
s+4+3s+4=56
4s=48
s=12
Shauna is 12; Jason is 36. ☺☺☺☺
