Hey there.

So there are a few forces that act upon a person in an elevator. The first is Gravity. This is the downward force keeping us on the floor of the elevator. The second, is the upward force from where the cable takes the elevator upwards. The tension which is present means that for a short period of time, we are pushed into the floor more and our mass goes up.
