y = 0:
[tex](0)^2+2(0)=0+0=0[/tex]
0 is neither prime nor composite.

y=1:
[tex](1)^2+2(1)=1+2=3[/tex]
3 is a prime number (because only 3 and 1 divide evenly into it)

y = 2:
[tex](2)^2+2(2)=4+4=8[/tex]
8 is a composite number (because multiple different numbers divide evenly into it: 1, 2, 4, and 8)
