1/2z + 6 = 3/2(z + 6)

Distribute the coefficient outside of the parenthesis:

1/2z + 6 = 3/2(z) + 3/2(6)

1/2z + 6 = 3/2z + 9

Subtract 1/2z from both sides:

6 = 2/2z + 9

Subtract 9 from both sides. Simplify 2/2z into z:

6 - 9 = z + 9 - 9

-3 = z
