Divide through by -2
-2/-2 x^2 - 3/-2 x +2/-2 = 0/-2
Which gives
X^2 + 3/2 x -1 =0
X^2 + 3/2 x =1
(3/2 * 1/2)^2 = 9/16
Add to both sides
X^2 +3/2 x +9/16 = 1 + 9/16
(X +3/4)^2 = 25/16
Square root both sides
X + 3/4 = +- root(25/16)
Simplify
X + 3/4 = +- 5/4
X=-3/4 +- 5/4
Therefore
X = -3/4 + 5/4
Or
X = -3/4 - 5/4
Which becomes
X=-2 or x=0.5
