5/3x+5=1/3x-3

move 1/3x to the other side

sign changes from +1/3x to -1/3x

5/3x-1/3x+5=1/3x-1/3x-3

5/3x-1/3x+5=-3

move +5 to the other side

sign changes from +5 to -5

5/3x-1/3x+5-5=-3-5

5/3x-1/3x=-8

4/3x=-8

Multiply both sides by 3/4

4/3x(3/4)=-8(3/4)

Cross out -8 and 4, divide by 4 and then becomes -2*3=-6

Answer: x=-6
