What the current research says is that the United States's primary interests in the Middle East is securing strategic access to oil in the Gulf region and supporting and protecting Israel’s sovereignty. The second priority interest is maintaining the United State's military bases as well as resisting Islamic movements and terrorist groups. The emphasis on the issues around the Israel are more prominent now, during Trump's presidency.
