The normal quadratic equation would be y=ax^2+bx+c.

The variable c is the y intercept, so let's get y to itself.

y+4=(x+2)^2 (square this side.)

y+4=x^2+4x+4 (subtract the 4 on the y side to isolate the y.)

y=x^2+4x

The y intercept is zero.

y-intercept is equal the value of function for x = 0.

Put x = 0 to the equation y + 4 = (x + 2)²

y + 4 = (0 + 2)²

y + 4 = 2²

y + 4 = 4     |-4

y = 0

Answer: y-intercept = 0 → (0, 0)
