1/3 is equivalent to the repeating decimal 0.333333...

To obtain the repeating decimal for 2/3, just multiply this result by 2:

2(0.333333... ) = 0.666666...

2/3 is 1/3 + 1/3

So if you know the decimal for 1/3, you can add the two numbers together to get what 2/3 is.

1/3 = 0.33 (rounded)

2/3 = 0.66 (rounded)

0.33 + 0.33 = 0.66 (True) ∴ 1/3 + 1/3 = 2/3
