Many East and South Asian migrants came to the Caribbean to find work after Slavery was abolished in the 19th Century.


The abolition of slavery was led by the British Empire which had an impact all over the world.

As slavery was abolished, there were numerous opportunities to work on cotton and sugar plantation in the Caribbean. 

The descents of these people still live on the Islands and formed a distinct culture of their own.
