Formula of distance
d = v × t
with v as speed and t as time

Find the number of distance that has been traveled
d = v × t
d = [tex] \frac{1}{12} [/tex] × x
d = [tex] \frac{\text{x}}{12} [/tex] miles

Find the number of remaining distance
y = total distance - traveled distance
y = 3 miles - [tex] \frac{x}{12} [/tex] miles
y = (3- [tex] \frac{x}{12} [/tex])
this is the equation
