When a oxygen atom forms an ion it loses one electron what is the electrical change of the oxygen ion

An ion is an atom or molecule that doesn’t have the same number of electrons to protons. If an oxygen atom gains electrons, it will become a negative change ion which is called anion. While on the other hand if an oxygen atom loses an electron, it will form a positive charge called cation.
