Hart describes the rise of the belief in witches and those that use witchcraft in the Middle Ages, and that the Catholic Church actually tried to temper the hysteria that came with it. Why is it then there is the common misconception that the Church at this time was, as Hart says “burning thousands of ‘witches’ at the stake.”?
